Amalarios 1 was bishop of Trier; in spring 813 he and the abbot Petros 141 were sent to Constantinople by Charlemagne (Karoulos 1) in order to ratify the peace with the emperor Michael I (Michael 7): Annales Regni Francorum s.a. 813. They arrived after Michael 7 had been succeeded by Leo V (Leo 15); Leo 15 received them and sent them back with his own envoys (Christophoros 56 and Gregorios 155) with the agreed text of an alliance; on their return they found that Charlemagne (Karoulos 1) had died and been succeeded by Louis (Louis the Pious, Lodoïchos 2): Annales Regni Francorum s.a. 814.
