Amabilios 1 was a bishop of Ostia; he attended all five sessions of the Lateran Council, from 5 October to 31 October 649, and in the list of bishops present is named in fifty-sixth place: Conc. Lat., p. 4, line 28 (Ἀμαβίλου ἐπισκόπου Ὄστης), p. 5, line 28 ("Amabile Hostense episcopo") (the first session), cf. pp. 33, 113, 179 and 249 (the Latin version only is repeated for the other sessions). At the third session he ordered the reading of a letter from Cyrus of Alexandria (Kyros 2, 630/1-643/4) to the then patriarch of Constantinople, Sergius (not included in PBE I): Conc. Lat., p. 170, line 29 (Ἀμαβίλλιος ὁ θεοφιλέστατος ἐπίσκοπος Ὀστέως) with p. 171, line 28 (Amabilis reverentissimus episcopus Hostensis ecclesiae). He subscribed the definition of the faith agreed by the Council at its fifth session: Conc. Lat., p. 396, line 15 (Ἀμαβίλιος ἐπίσκοπος Ὄστης), p. 397, line 15 (Amabilis episcopus sanctae Hostensis ecclesiae).
