Ziper 1 was a hypatos; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth century: Zacos and Veglery 2572. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Μήτηρ τοῦ κυρίου Θεοῦ ἡμῶν, with βο - η - θ - ι in the corners. Rev.: cruciform monogram of τω σω δουλω, with Ζη - περ - υπα - τω in the corners. The full text reads: Μήτηρ τοῦ κυρίου Θεοῦ, βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Ζήπερ ὑπάτῳ. The similarities between this seal and Zacos and Veglery 1460 strongly suggest that this man is identical with Ziper the father of Epiphanios 37.
