Tzatzios 1 was a basilikos spatharios and tourmarches of the Boukellarioi or perhaps of the Makedones (see below); owner of a seal dateable to the second half of the eighth century (Zacos and Veglery), possibly the third quarter (Seibt, cited in Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, pp. 99ff.): Zacos and Veglery 2663. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Κύριε βοήθει, with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: ..τζα - ..ζιω β' σπα - θ' και τουρμα - [ρ]χ' των ν - ουκελλ' (sic). The last word was read by Seibt, loc. cit., as: Μ - ακεδο'. The name and titles perhaps read: Τζατζίῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ καὶ τουρμάρχῃ τῶν Βουκελλαρίων, or possibly τῶν Μακεδόνων. The reading of the name is uncertain because of the missing letters. Cf. also Rochow, Konstantin V, pp. 243-244.
