Tzanion 1 was a native of Kastellon near Nikopolis (in Armenia); when he chanced upon Sergios 1 (the Paulician leader) splitting planks with an axe near Argaoun; he seized the axe and killed him; the date was 834/835, in AM 6343: Peter of Sicily, 180, 181.
