Thomas 63 was an abbot (ὁ μακάριος ἀββᾶς Θωμᾶς), apparently at Rome; when Maximos 10 (Maximus the Confessor) was accused in 652/653 it was alleged by Sergios 112 that nine years previously Thomas 63 had come from Rome and told him how he had been sent by the bishop of Rome, Theodoros 49, to Gregorios 1, in rebellion in Africa, to inform him that Maximos 10 had had a vision showing that he was destined to prevail against the emperor in the east (Constans, i.e. Konstans 1); Maximos 10 denied the charge and said that he should have been given the opportunity of questioning Thomas 63: Relatio Motionis II, 112C.
