Thomas 54 was a basilikos spatharios; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century: Zacos and Veglery 2559. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: + Θω - μα β' ς - παθα - ρηω. The name and title read: Θωμᾷ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ.
