Thomas 48 was bishop of La...; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth century, but probably before c. 730 or after 787, since it is iconic: Zacos and Veglery 2984. Obv.: Virgin standing, facing, holding Child; on left and right, cruciform monograms of Θεοτόκε and βοήθει. Rev.: Θωμα - επισκο - πω Λα'. The name of the see is not certain. Zacos and Veglery, Seals, note ad loc., propose Lampsakos, Laodikeia or Lamyra.
