Thomas 47 was a hypatos, basilikos spatharokandidatos and tourmarches; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth century: Zacos and Veglery 2555a and b. Obv.: (a and b) cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with τω - δου - λω - σω in the corners. Rev.: (a and b) Θωμ - α υπατω - βασιλικω - σπαθαρο - κανδιδατ - ω κ' τουρμ - αρχη. The name and titles read: Θωμᾷ ὑπάτῳ, βασιλικῷ σπαθαροκανδιδάτῳ καὶ τουρμάρχῃ. Possibly identical with Thomas, the owner of a similar seal also dateable to the eighth century: Panchenko, Katalog, pp. 132ff.
