Theosteriktos 1 was a disciple of Niketas of Medikion (Niketas 43); he wrote the Life of Niketas (a funeral oration); he was a monk at Medikion: Vita Nicetae Medicii, title (p. XXIIA) He knew Niketas 43 personally and wrote the work after the death of Niketas in 824. When the saint's body was brought back to Medikion in 824, Theosteriktos was among those present on the shore to greet its arrival: Vita Nicetae Medicii 48.
