Theophylaktos 97 was a basilikos spatharios and tourmarches; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century: Zacos and Veglery 2549. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with [τω] - [σω] - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: Θεοφ[υ] - λακτω [β'] - σπα' (και) του[ρ] - μαρχ. The name and titles read: Θεοφυλάκτῳ [βασιλικῷ] σπαθαρίῳ καὶ τουρμάρχῃ. The reading β (for βασιλικῷ) is more probable than α (for πρωτοσπαθαρίῳ).
