Theophylaktos 53 was a megas meizoteros; probably owner of several seals dateable to the eighth or ninth century: Schlumberger, Sig., p. 543, no. 1 (facsimile) (dated to the ninth century). Obv.: invocative monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with the legend τῷ σῷ δούλῳ.

The same person probably owned further very similar seals dateable between the mid eighth century and the mid ninth: Zacos and Veglery 2539 a and b. Obv.: (a and b) cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: (a and b) +Θεωφ - υλακτ' μ - εγαλ' μιζ - οτερω. The name and title read: Θεοφυλάκτῳ μεγάλῳ μειζοτέρῳ. The mark of abbreviation after μεγαλ suggests that the title was megas meizoteros and not (as Schlumberger) megalomeizoteros.

Possibly the same individual owned a number of other seals, although the dates assigned to them by the various editors are not entirely consistent with the dates above.

Meizoteros; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth century: Zacos and Veglery 1662. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Κύριε βοήθει. Rev.: Θεω - φυλακ - τω μει - ζοτ'. The name and title read: Θεοφυλάκτῳ μειζοτέρῳ. Meizoteros; owner of a seal dateable to the second half of the eighth century: Zacos and Veglery 2537. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Κύριε βοήθει, with τω - σω - [δ]ου - λω in the corners.

Basilikos meizoteros; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth century (Laurent), possibly the second half (Zacos and Veglery): Zacos and Veglery 2538 = Laurent, Corpus II, no. 634. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Κύριε βοήθει, with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Basilikos meizoteros; owner of a seal dateable to the late seventh or early eighth century: Laurent, Corpus II, no. 635. The name and title read: Θεοφυλάκτῳ βασιλικῷ μειζοτέρῳ.
