Theophylaktos 51 was a patrikios and exarch; owner of a seal dateable to the seventh or eighth century: Schlumberger, Sig., p. 515, no. 4 (no facsimile) (from Salinas, "Sigilli diplomatici"). Obv.: invocative monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει with the legend τῷ σῷ δούλῳ. Rev.: cruciform monogram of Θεοφυλάκτῳ with the legend πατρικ(ίῳ) (καὶ) ἐξάρχ(ῳ). Perhaps he was exarchos of Italy.
