Theophylaktos 44 was a hesychast monk, he suffered for a year from liver pain and a heavy cough; his illness growing worse, he visited the tomb of St Peter of Atroa (Petros 34), drank the oil there and anointed himself with it, and was miraculously cured of all his ailments: Vita Petr. Atr. 114 (Vita Petr. Atr. Retractata, pp. 169-171) (ἡσυχαστὴς μοναχὸς καλούμενος Θεοφύλακτος καθ' ἑαυτὸν καθεζόμενος καὶ τὴν ἡσυχίαν πνευματικῶς ἀσπαζόμενος).
