Theophylaktos 15 lived in the village of Probatos (in Bithynia close to the monastery of Hagios Zacharias); he injured his hand while chopping wood and was eventually cured by Peter of Atroa (Petros 34): Vita Petr. Atr. 45, p. 161 (Θεοφύλακτος δέ τις ἀπὸ τῆς κώμης Προβάτου). The incident occurred during the reign of Michael II (Michael 10). In Vita Petr. Atr. Retractata 63 (p. 120) the place name Προβάτου is spelt Πρεβέτου.
