Theophilos 31 was a basilikos spatharokandidatos and katepano of the Mardaïtai; owner of a seal dateable to the second half of the ninth century: Zacos II 901. Obv.: bust of Christ, bearded, with cross behind head, with the legend +Κ(ύρι)ε βοήθ(ει) τω σω δουλω. Rev.: + Θεω - φηλο β' σπ - αθα[ρ']κανδ - ιδατ' (καὶ) κατ - επαν' τον - Μαρδα - .τ'. The name and titles read: Θεοφίλῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαροκανδιδάτῳ καὶ κατεπάνω τῶν Μαρδαϊτῶν.
