Theophilos 27 was a basilikos spatharios and strategos; owner of two similar seals dateable to the eighth or ninth century: Zacos and Veglery 2520 (dated between the mid eighth century and the mid ninth; obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners; rev.: Θεοφιλ - ω β' σπαθ - (καὶ) στρατ'; the name and titles read: Θεοφίλῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ καὶ στρατηγῷ), Konstantopoulos, JIAN 6, 213 (dated eighth or ninth century; the text reads: Θεοφίλῳ βασιλικῷ σπαθαρίῳ κὲ στρατηγῷ).
