Theophilos 2, a spatharios, was sent to Sicily by the empress Eirene 1 when allegations of disloyalty were made against the strategos Elpidios 2 in April 781; Theophilos 2 was to bring Elpidios 2 back but was unable to do so: Theoph. AM 6273 (Θεόφιλον τὸν σπαθάριον). See also Elpidios 2.
