Theophanes 44 was a patrikios and genikos logothetes; owner of seals dateable to the ninth century: Zacos and Veglery 2508 (one seal) = Laurent, Corpus II, no. 287 (two seals). Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: [Θ]εοφα - .. πατρικ' - [(καὶ)] γεννικ' λο - γοθε'. The name and titles read: Θεοφάνῃ πατρικίῳ καὶ γενικῷ λογοθέτῃ.
