Theophanes 39 was a hypatos, basilikos spatharokandidatos and strategos of Kephallenia; owner of a seal dateable to the eighth century: DOSeals II 1.17 = Zacos and Veglery 3200. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with τω - σω - δου - .. in the corners. Rev.: .εοφαν - πατω βα' - .αθαρκανδ - τρατηγ - .εφα. The name and titles probably read: Θεοφάνει ὑπάτῳ, βασιλικῷ σπαθαροκανδιδάτῳ καὶ στρατηγῷ Κεφαλληνίας.
