Theophanes 28 was a basilikos keryx; owner of a seal of uncertain date, possibly ninth or tenth century: Konstantopoulos, JIAN 9, 371a. The name and title read: Θεοφάνῃ βασ[ι]λικῷ καρικῃ(?). The interpretation of the last term is not clear; no official title seems to resemble it; possibly it represents κηρύκι, i.e. herald, but there seems to be no evidence for such a post.
