Theognostos 5 was oikonomos of (the Church of) Ephesos; owner of seals dateable to the ninth century (DOSeals; Zacos and Veglery) or to the ninth or tenth (Laurent): DOSeals III 14.10a and b (a = Zacos and Veglery 2492 = Laurent, Corpus V 3, no. 1699; b = Laurent, Corpus V 1, 263). Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: +Θεο - γνωστ' - οικωνο - μ' Εφ'. The name and title read: Θεογνώστῳ οἰκονόμῳ Ἐφέσου.

Possibly identical with Theognostos deacon and oikonomos of Ephesos, owner of another seal also dateable to the ninth century: Seyrig 247. The name and titles read: Θεογνώστο διακόνῳ καὶ οἰκονόμῳ Ἐφέσῳ. Cheynet, Morrisson and Seibt (the editors of Seyrig) regard the identification as certain ("sans doute") even though the title of deacon is not on the other seals.
