Theodoulos 7 was a monk, icon painter and a stylite; he was the addressee of a letter from Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite), probably written between 803 and 806, commenting on reports from friends of Theodoulos 15 that he had depicted elderly crucified angels (ἀγγέλους ἀνιστόρησεν: p. 45, line 16) together with an elderly Jesus Christ, and asking if this was really true; he is styled ἡ ἁγιωσύνη σου (p. 45, line 12) and addressed as ἁγιώτατέ μου πάτερ (p. 45, lines 2-3); he was apparently older than Theodoros 15 but an old friend (Theodoros 15 describes himself as γνήσιόν σου εἶναι καὶ ὁμόψυχον τέκνον καὶ φίλον: p. 45, lines 10-11): Theod. Stud., Ep. 15, pp. 45-46 (addressed Θεοδούλῳ κιονίτῃ). In two MSS (cod. Paris. gr. 894, f. 165v, and cod. Patm. 113, f. 10v) the name of the addressee is given as Theodoros.
