Theodotos 40 was a basilikos kandidatos and chartoularios of the logothesion(?); owner of a seal dateable to the ninth century: Zacos and Veglery 2479. Obv.: cruciform monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει, with τω - σω - δου - λω in the corners. Rev.: +Θεο - δοτω β' - κανδ' (καὶ) χ - [α]ρτ' του λο - ... The name and titles read: Θεοδότῳ βασιλικῷ κανδιδάτῳ καὶ χαρτουλαρίῳ τοῦ λο(γοθεσίου). The reading of the last word is uncertain.
