Theodotakios 1 was a patrikios; he was the leader, after Leo 120, of the synkletikoi and others, seventy-two in number, who testified against the patriarch Ignatios 1 at the Council summoned against him in 861; as a reward for his testimony he was raised to the dignity of magistros: Nicetas, Vita Ignatii 517D-520A (ἡγεῖτο Λέων ... καὶ Θεοδοτάκιος πατρίκιος μετ' αὐτὸν, ᾧ κὰι τῆς ἐπιορκίας μισθὸν τὴν ἀξίαν μαγίστρου προετείνατο).
