Theodosios 40 was the brother of Alexios Mousele (Alexios 2); he acquired the status of patrikios (πατρικίων τιμῇ ἐγκαταλεγείς); when he died, he left many proofs of his goodness in the monastery founded by his brother at the Place of Anthemios in Chrysopolis and was buried there close to his brother's tomb: Theoph. Cont. III 18 (p. 109), cf. Scyl., p. 65, 46-48 (ὁ τούτου ἀδελφὸς Θεοδόσιος ἐς πατρικίους τελέσας, πολλὰ γνωρίσματα τῆς αὐτοῦ ἀρίστης βιοτῆς ἐν τῷ μοναστηρίῳ καταλιπών). He was therefore an Armenian and a member of the family of the Krenitai.
