Theodoros 181 was a Byzantine official on guard at the frontier between Bulgaria and the empire ("inter fines Vulgariae Constantinopolitanorumque quendam Theodorum marcham illam custodientem") in 866 when he prevented envoys from pope Nicolas I (Nikolaos 28) from crossing into imperial territory (see Donatos 2); he insulted and abused them, striking their horses; after forty days on the frontier the envoys, learning that their entry was blocked on orders from the emperor, returned to Rome: Lib. Pont. 107. 71-72. He was presumably a military official, but his status is impossible to determine.
