Thalelaios 2 was a Stoudite monk and the addressee of two letters from Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite) written between 816 and 818; he had sent questions to Theodoros concerning behaviour towards iconoclasts and fellow monks who had lapsed: Theod. Stud., Ep. 340, pp. 480-481; 386, pp. 534-536 (addressed Θαλελαίῳ τέκνῳ). He is addressed as τέκνον ἠγαπημένον: Theod. Stud., Ep. 340, p. 480, line 2. He was suffering from ill-health (ἡ σωματική σου ἀσθένεια; possibly from his sufferings during the persecution under Leo V, i.e. Leo 15): Theod. Stud., Ep. 340, p. 480, line 8. He was acquainted with Gregorios 143: Theod. Stud., Ep. 386, p. 543, line 5.
