Tatas 1 was stratelates, kandidatos and droungarios; owner of a seal dateable to the seventh or eighth century: Schlumberger, Sig., p. 337, no. 4 (facsimile) = p. 367, no. 8. Obv.: Τατα - στρατηλ(ατου) - (και) κανδ(ιδατου). Rev.: +- συν - δρουγ - γαριου (sic). The text is peculiar and is perhaps to be interpreted as meaning that Tatas 1 was a stratelates (an honorific title) and kandidatos, who held active office as a droungarios.
