Symeon 4 was a descendant of Krum 1 and son of Baldimer (i.e. Vladimir 1); he was ruler of the Bulgars: Leo Gramm. 231, Georg. Mon. Cont. 817. The context dates his father's rule, wrongly, to the 830s (see Vladimir 1); Vladimir 1 ruled the Bulgars from 889 to 893 and Symeon 4 from 893 to 927. See further in PBE II.
