In spring 718 Sufyan 2 commanded an Arab fleet which sailed from Egypt with fresh supplies for the forces besieging Constantinople (οὗ ἡγεῖτο Σοφιὰμ ὄνομα ἄρχων: Nic. Brev. de Boor 54, Mango 54:23-24); fearing Greek fire, he put in at the harbour of Kalos Agros in Bithynia, but Egyptians in his fleet deserted to the emperor and betrayed his position; his fleet was totally destroyed in a Byzantine attack: Nic. Brev. de Boor 54, Mango 54, Theoph. AM 6209.
