Subo 1 was a Lombard, he was one of the bodyguards of king Liutprand 1 ("unus e regiis satellitibus nomine Subo") at Ticinum; when Rothari 2 tried to strike the king, Subo 1 seized him from the rear, but was wounded on the forehead; others then overwhelmed Rothari 2 and killed him: Paul. Diac., Hist. Lang. VI 38.
