Stephanos 130 was an asekretis; addressee of two letters written by Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite), one in 796, the other in 821: Theod. Stud., Ep. 5, pp. 18-21 (a. 796); Ep. 419, pp. 586-588 (a. 821) (both addressed Στεφάνῳ ἀδσηκρῆτις). In 796 he was personally acquainted with Theodoros 15, whom he visited for discussions on the dispute between Theodoros and the emperor Constantine VI (Konstantinos 8) over the emperor's second marriage; he is styled τῆς εὐκλεοῦς σου παρουσίας (p. 18, line 2) and ἡ φιλότης σου, and addressed as ὦ δέσποτα (p. 18, line 6): Theod. Stud., Ep. 5, pp. 18-21. In 821 he had contacted Theodoros 15 through Theodoros's guard, at a time when the persecution was over but peace had not been restored; he was apparently involved in talks concerning the restoration of icon veneration; addressed as ὦ φιλότης (p. 586, line 2) and ὦ τριπόθητε (p. 587, line 20): Theod. Stud., Ep. 419, pp. 586-588.
