Stephanos 88 was son of Basilios 56; during the rebellion of Thomas the Slav (Thomas 7) (821/823) he was living in Constantinople; he invited Symeon the stylite (Symeon 13) to him; Symeon 13 then performed a miracle with a winecask and a grasshopper: Acta Davidis, Symeonis et Georgii 236, 15-35.
