Stephanos 22 was bishop of Corinth (Hellas); in 681 he attended the last session (on 16 September) of the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council); he was one of the legates of the see of Rome: Riedinger, pp. 754-822 (= Mansi XI 625-670). In the subscriptions to the statement of the faith, which condemned monotheletism, and to the Council he is styled Στέφανος ἐλέει Θεοῦ ἐπίσκοπος Κορίνθου καὶ ληγατάριος τοῦ ἀποστολικοῦ θρόνου Ῥώμης (so Riedinger, p. 778, lines 26-27 (= Mansi XI 641); Riedinger, p. 822, lines 30-31 (= Mansi XI 669) reads: τῆς πρεσβυτέρας Ῥώμης): Riedinger, p. 778, lines 26-27, p. 822, lines 30-31 (= Mansi XI 641, 669). In the list of those present at the last session he is styled Στεφάνου ἐπισκόπου πόλεως Κορίνθου: Riedinger, p. 754, line 24 (= Mansi XI 625). He is included among the representatives of the Council of bishops held at Rome in 680, although he did not attend that Council himself. The list at Riedinger, p. 754, lines 24-26 (= Mansi XI 625) names Ioannes 21 of Portus, Stephanos 22 of Corinth, Basilios 3 of Gortyna, Aboundantios 1 of Paternum (or Tempsa) and Ioannes 32 of Rhegium. He was among those who signed the copy of the definition of the faith sent to the bishop of Rome, Agatho 1; he signed on behalf of the bishops under him as well as in his own name: Riedinger, p. 891, lines 19-20 (= Mansi XI 689)(Στέφανος ἐλέει Θεοῦ ἐπίσκοπος τῆς Κορινθίων μητροπόλεως τῆς Ἑλλήνων χώρας ὑπὲῤ ἐμαυτοῦ καὶ τῆς ὑπ' ἐμὲ συνόδου).
