Stephanos 12 was bishop of Locri in Calabria; he was one of the hundred and twenty five Western bishops who attended the Council of Rome at Easter 680, and who subscribed the decree condemning monotheletism: Riedinger, p. 140, lines 29-31 (= Mansi XI 299-300) (Στέφανος ἀνάξιος ἐπίσκοπος τῆς ἁγίας ἐκκλησίας Λουκριτίας ἐπαρχίας Καλαβρίας; the name of the see, corrupted in the Greek text, is identified in the old Latin version printed in Riedinger, p. 141, line 27 - "ecclesiae\n Lucrensis").
