Stephanos 6 was a patrikios and kommerkiarios of the apotheke of Abydos; owner of a seal dateable between 659 and 668 (see below): DOSeals III 40. 18 = Zacos and Veglery 139 = Oikonomides, Dated Seals, no. 15. The obverse has busts of the emperor Constans II (Konstans 1) and of Constantine IV (Konstantinos 2), and the legend: +Στεφανου . - ατρικιου κα - ι κομμερ.. The reverse has busts of Heraklios 1 and Tiberios 1, and the legend κιαριου απ - οθηκης Α - βυδου. The name and titles read: +Στεφάνου [π]ατρικίου καὶ κομμερκιαρίου ἀποθήκης Ἀβύδου. The date was therefore between 659 and 668. Cf. Oikonomides, op. cit., p. 29. This man had the dignities of patrikios and later of apo hypaton and owned a number of other seals who are also dated between 659 and 658; see further Zacos and Veglery, Seals, p. 145.
