Sosipatros 1 was a Stoudite monk and abbas (see below), mentioned in a letter of Theodore the Stoudite (Theodoros 15) written in 824 or 825; he was sent with a group of monks by Theodoros 15 to persuade the hermit Theoktistos 19 to abandon his heretical views and return to orthodoxy; they returned with a statement of orthodox belief and a report, principally from Sosipatros 1 (παρὰ τῶν πεμφθέντων ἀδελφῶν, καὶ μάλιστα παρὰ τοῦ ἀββᾶ Σωσιπάτρου: p. 722, lines 10-11), confirming his orthodoxy: Theod. Stud., Ep. 490, pp. 722-724.
