Sophronios 5 was bishop of Smyrna; owner of a seal dateable to the ninth or tenth century: DOSeals III 35. 4 = Laurent, Corpus V 1, no. 740. Obv.: bust of St Polycarp with the legend ὁ ἅγιος Πολύκαρπος. Rev.: Σμυρν' - προεδρου - σφραγ' ειμ. - Σωφρον'. The text of the reverse reads: Σμύρνης προέδρου σφραγίς εἰμι Σωφρονίου.
