Sigifred 1 was bishop of Rhegium (in Aemilia) ("Sigifridus, episcopus ecclesiae Regensis"); in 844 he was one of the Italian bishops who attended the Council of Rome with Drogo 1; they had not been summoned by their metropolitans but went because they had criticisms to make against pope Sergius II (Sergios 60): Lib. Pont. 104. 14. To judge by his name, he may have been of Lombard descent.
