In 773 Sergios 8 Lacherbaphos (ὁ Λαχέρβαφος Σέργιος) held the office of ek prosopou in Cyprus (εἰς Κύπρον ἐκ προσώπου ὢν τῶν ἐκεῖσε); in that year he was captured by the Arabs: Theoph. AM 6264. The name Sergios is omitted from some manuscripts, probably by error, and the name Lacherbaphos (possibly a family name) is spelled as Lacherphabos in two; see Winkelmann, Quellenstudien, p. 153. On the office of ek prosopou, see Winkelmann, Rangstruktur, pp. 115-116.
