Sergios 4 was the owner of a seal dated in the reign of the emperor Constantine IV (Konstantinos 2): Zacos and Veglery 147 = Oikonomides, Dated Seals, no.18. The name is partly lost and could be either Σεργίου or Γεωργίου. The inscription on the reverse reads: ...γιου - απο επα - ρχων - εργαστερι - αρχου. The obverse has a bust of Konstantinos 2, the reverse, busts of the emperor's brothers Heraklios 1 and Tiberios 1; the date was therefore not before 668 and not after 681, but it could be before 672/673 when indiction numbers began to appear on seals of this type; see Oikonomides, op. cit., p. 32.
