Sabas 13 was a hesychast and the addressee of a letter from the patriarch Photios (Photios 1); formerly a friend and supporter of Photios 1, he later deserted his cause: Photius, Ep. 91 (I 128 Laourdas-Westerink) (addressed Σάβᾳ ἡσυχαστῇ μετὰ τῶν ἀποστατῶν γεγονότι). The date of the letter is uncertain, between 859 and c. 886.

Sabas 13 was probably identical with Sabas, a priest and hesychast, to whom were addressed two other letters of Photios 1, both dealing with theological topics: Photius, Epp. 176 (addressed Σάβᾳ πρεσβυτέρῳ καὶ ἡσυχαστῇ), 177 (addressed τῷ αὐτῷ) (II 63ff. Laourdas-Westerink). The date of these letters is also uncertain, between 859 and c. 886.
