Sabas 6 was a monk in the monastery of Kallistratos (at Constantinople); he was a disciple of Photios 1 and in 865 he succeeded Theodoros Santabarenos (Theodoros 174) as hegoumenos of the monastery of Stoudios: Vita Nic. Stud. 912C. For two years (865-867) he detained Nicolas the Stoudite (Nikolaos 26) in prison there: Vita Nic. Stud. 913A.
