Romanos 3 was bishop of Tarantum (Tarentum); owner of seals dateable to the seventh century: DOSeals I 11.1 = Zacos and Veglery 2340 (and cited in Laurent, Corpus V 3, Concordance, p. 300, no. 926). Two similar seals are published by Laurent, Corpus, V 1, no. 926 (one, illustrated, from the same boulloterion as the DO Seal). Obv.: invocative monogram of Θεοτόκε βοήθει and the legend Ῥωμανου.
