Raginpert 2 was a Lombard, eldest son of Gumpert 1; he had two brothers; he was a nephew of king Aripert II (Aripert 1); after the death of Aripert 1, Gumpert 1 fled with his family to Francia, where in the time of Paul the Deacon (Paulos 52) Raginpert 2 was the bishop of Orleans ("filii tres, quorum qui maior natu extitit Ragimpertus nomine nostris in diebus Aurelianensem civitatem rexit"): Paul.
