Qahtaba 1 was an Arab leader in Khorasan who joined Abu Muslim 1 in the revolt against the Umayyads and won major victories over the Umayyad generals Ibindara (Ibn Dubara 1) and Ibinoueera (Ibn Hubayra 1): Theoph. AM 6240. His name was Qahtaba ibn Shabib and he died in 749 after his last victory: Encyclopaedia of Islam., 2nd ed., IV, pp. 445-447.
