Prokopios 18 was the addressee of a letter from Theodoros 15 (Theodore the Stoudite) written either in 817/818 (Fatouros, p. 210*) or between 821 and 826 (P. Dobroklonskii, Prep. Feodor, ispovednik i igumen studiiskii, 2 vols. (Odessa, 1913-14), II 470ff.). Prokopios 18 was a married man with a wife and children (τῆς κυρίας τῆς ὁμοζύγου καὶ τῶν θεοφυλάκτων τέκνων: Theod. Stud., Ep. 69, p. 184, lines 15-16); he became a monk, but then abandoned the dress of a monk and returned to live with his family; some years later he received this letter from Theodoros 15 urging him to return to the monastic life; Prokopios 18 is styled τῇ τιμιότητί σου (p. 184, line 2) and τῆς εὐσεβείας σου (p. 184, line 4) and is addressed as δέσποτα (p. 185, line 43), ὦ ἄνθρωπε τοῦ θεοῦ (p. 184, line 5) and φίλων ἄριστε καὶ μάλα τῶν ἀρχαίων (p. 184, lines 5-6) (he was therefore a longstanding friend of Theodoros 15): Theod. Stud., Ep. 69, pp. 184-185 (addressed Προκοπίῳ μονάζοντι).
