Potentios 2 was bishop of Pola (in Istria); he attended all five sessions of the Lateran Council, from 5 October to 31 October 649, and in the list of bishops present is named in one hundredth place: Conc. Lat., p. 6, line 29 (Ποτεντίου ἐπισκόπου Πώλων), p. 7, line 29 ("Potentio Polense episcopo") (the first session), cf. pp. 35, 115, 181 and 251 (the Latin version only is repeated for the other sessions). He subscribed the definition of the faith agreed by the Council at its fifth session: Conc. Lat., p. 400, line 23 (Ποτέντιος ἐπίσκοπος Πώλων), p. 401, line 23 ("Potentius episcopus sanctae Polensis ecclesiae").
