Polyeuktos 2 was a vir gloriosissimus and apo hypaton; he was one of the laymen who attended the Third Council of Constantinople (the Sixth Ecumenical Council) from 6 November 680, to 16 September 681; he attended all eighteen sessions; at those sessions where the emperor was present (sessions one to eleven and eighteen) he is named ninth in the list of thirteen laymen present; at the others where the emperor was absent he is named third of the four laymen present as representatives of the emperor (see Konstantinos 21): Riedinger II 2. 14, line 30, 26, line 31, 36, line 12, 46, line 35, 162, line 1, 170, line 26, 180, line 30, 190, line 27, 262, line 27, 278, line 27, 400, line 27, 514, line 20, 570, line 5, 628, line 21, 664, line 30, 682, line 29, 706, line 7, 752, line 26 (= Mansi XI 209, 217, 221, 229, 317, 321, 328, 333, 380, 388, 457, 520, 549, 584, 604, 612, 621, 625). He is styled Πολυεύκτου τοῦ ἐνδοξοτάτου ἀπὸ ὑπάτων; the old Latin version printed in Riedinger II 2. 15, line 27, etc. (= Mansi XI 210, etc.) calls him "Polyeucto glorioso exconsule". He and the three other laymen (see Konstantinos 21) were named by the emperor at the close of the eleventh session as his representatives: Riedinger II 2. 512, line 20 (= Mansi XI 517).
